They say that sitting in front of your computer all day is not good for your health or your posture, which we have to agree with to a certain extent, but is texting just as bad for you? Well according to a paper published in the Surgical Technology International by Dr. Kenneth Hansraj, it seems that texting isn’t exactly great for your posture either.

According to Dr. Hansraj, “The weight seen by the spine dramatically increases when flexing the head forward at varying degrees. […] As the head tilts forward the forces seen by the neck surges to 27 pounds at 15 degrees, 40 pounds at 30 degrees, 49 pounds at 45 degrees and 60 pounds at 60 degrees.”

I guest we should all hold our smartphones, and tablets in front of our eyes to avoid looking down to avoid back pain.

Looking down constantly is bad for you, the taller you are the worst it is.

^ That. texting while looking down is no worse than looking down to read a book, write notes, or anything else.
There is an image of a guy standing up while texting on the original post which I did not post before. I think you are less likely to stand up to read a book, write notes, or even use a tablet because of the bigger size and weight of a book, or tablet. Sitting on a chair would probably make your spine more relaxed since most chairs have back rest. I think if you text while sitting down, it would be better for your back like reading a book, or using a tablet while sitting on a chair.
