Bringing Disruptive Personal Computing for the people of the Mathare slum in Nairobi (Kenya).

5 Billion people, 70% of the world's population are still without access to personal computing. This problem exists in every city and country around the world. Unless concerted efforts are taken to bridge the digital divide, many developing countries and communities will miss economic opportunities. We started the Keepod Unite Project to bridge the digital divide by giving people the means and skills they need to use technology.

Keepod envisions a world where all people can use personal computing according to their needs and dreams. If you share this dream, we would be grateful for your support.

This project was born through the partnership with LiveInSlums, an NGO active in the slums of Nairobi, Cairo, SaoPaulo and others. The implementation of the project in the slum of Mathare, Nairobi Kenya, is the first step the organisations take together to make the vision of Keepod Unite a reality, starting from the bottom of the pyramid.

The Mathare Project is the first step to make Keepod Unite real.
I'm guesing the $7 is for the cost of the USB Flash drive since it cost around $10 or less to buy a decent 8GB USB flash drive on eBay, Amazon, and other stores.

Linux will be the most used online operating system if this Linux PC drive becomes successful at connecting the 5 billion people without internet which is 70% of the earth people to the internet.
