The Boondocks is returning to the HBO Max streaming service for two “reimagined” seasons, plus the original 55-episode run that debuted in 2005.
In an press release, HBO said that the new seasons will comprise of 24 episodes, where we’ll see the return of Huey, Riley and Robert “Granddad” Freeman. The new series will launch in Fall 2020, starting with a 50-minute special.
Boondocks creator Aaron McGruder is returning as showrunner and will serve as executive producer. McGruder served as showrunner for the first three of the original four seasons.
