The dangers of using smartphones while they are charging

These are some scary looking injuries from charging and using their smartphone at the same time.
*Slowly looks over at phone acting as a music player while charging.*
I'll keep it plugged in while just using it to play music or maybe use an app. But I wouldn't talk with it. Though anyone know the difference between a old cord phone and just having your mobile charging?
Also that baby one is obvious, don't play with a plug in cord.
