The Future of Minecraft on Microsoft consoles?

What is it?

I know the game's been released on Xbox 360 and Xbox One, complete with additional skin packs based on other franchises.

But is anything interesting planned for this version of the game in future? I mean, Microsoft owns Mojang now, so what are they planning next? Could Minecraft possibly ever get an actual sequel?

How would you make a sequel to a game that is so open-ended? It would be much easier for them to just keep placing DLC out for it as well as updates. Part of the game's appeal is the 64-bit graphical look, so they can't really improve the game in that area much. I mean, i GUESS they could make a much larger and vast world with a lot of little new features for the next console in about 5 to ten years or so, but for the time being I'm doubtful they'd make a sequel when it is much easier and cheaper / profitable for them to dole out updates and DLCs.
