Lost among all the 3DS announcements coming from Nintendo's "Nintendo Conference 2010" Japanese press event yesterday was a big piece of Wii news: a final release date for The Last Story.
The Wii exclusive RPG, directed by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi himself, will see Japanese release on January 27, Nintendo announced at the event.
As for why it's not a 2010 release, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata said at the press conference, "we want to take some more time to fine-tune it."
The Last Story has been getting plenty of hype since it was first formally unveiled earlier this year. In addition to being from the studio behind Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, it represents Sakaguchi's return to directing for the first time since Final Fantasy V.
Nintendo did not indicate when overseas players can expect the game.
