The main purpose of the internet for most people?

I think the main purpose of the internet for most people is to earn money since most websites I visit have advertisement, sell goods and services.

Not a lot of people works for free even the free websites which provides a free service like gmail, google.com is supported by ads, and paid subscriptions.

For the vistors of websites. They use websites to save money and entertain themselves.

for me, its to talk to people, my site has ads, but they are mimamal, and they are only there to povide monies for the hosting...

Well, for me it's to browse stuff, catching up on my mails and such.
I use it for troubleshooting too...sometimes.
