Nintendo has filed a patent for a yet-to-be released Wii accessory. The "Wii Light" was patented in Japan back in 2009. It plugs into the Wii console, sending a rainbow of colors out from its LED lights. The Wii Light has red, blue and green LEDs but through adjustments can display 256 colors. Not only can the Wii Light send out a plethora of hues into your living room, it would also be able to display patterns and a strobe effect.

The patent goes on to detail how games would use the Wii Light. Fighting games, for example, would use the Wii Light to display colors that would change based off of attacks. Games would be able to synchronize combat and interactions triggered from the controller with a certain color.

Another proposed application was for music games. The Wii Light would be able to adjust colors to complement the music in the background. Gamers would be able to see how well they are playing based off of the colors being projected.
