The Xbox 360 has been discontinued?

This is too bad for people with a large collection of Xbox 360 games, and may want to get a replacement Xbox 360 in the future.

Hopefully, most of the good Xbox 360 games will be backwards compatible with the Xbox One before it becomes harder to buy a new Xbox 360 from a retail store in the coming months.

With the xbox one backwards compatibility aspect, I don't think it's as big an issue to worry about having to replacing one 360 with another. Granted there are still games that won't have compatibility patched in for them (because they're obscure or not as popular) so some games might not be playable. But most games probably would be.
The only issue is how long will Microsoft maintain/update the backwards compatibility? I mean they had it for the 360 for a while too... but then eventually they kind of dropped it to the side.

I don't think it would be very profitable to BC an entire catalog of video games.

I never cared about it anyway, xbox one is better in my pinyin

As someone who has an Xbox 360 it's kind of a let down to know that I won't be able to get any new games for it anymore but it was bound to happen at some point. I guess that means it's time to finally suck it up and upgrade to the Xbox One.

The games library is still quite large, and I doubt you've played through all of even the good games available. I could name a bunch of PS1 games that I still haven't gotten around to, but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't one day!
As a matter of fact, I'm currently working on Chrono Trigger for SNES, so just because a platform has been discontinued doesn't mean that it'd go away!

And what's better, in the future we can probably emulate Xbox games better, so playing them as "retro" becomes very possible!

There was always going to come a time when Microsoft stopped making the Xbox 360, and I think they've carried on manufacturing it for longer than people expected already. With the introduction of the Xbox ONE, it's only understandable that Microsoft now wants to concentrate all its efforts into that.

Basically in the past, it's not as if people could choose between two console. Effectively the choice was to either buy a cheaper, older console with outraged technology or the new one. All Microsoft have done is made that decision for prospective buyers and said if you want a Microsoft console, then THIS is your only option.

Very good point! I actually have some Xbox games I currently own that I haven't even had a chance to play yet, let alone the ones out there that I haven't even bought. Then there's ones like the Fable series that I could play over and over again.

I feel like there's a very small minority of people who even still play on lastgen, much less still want to buy a lastgen console. I'm sure if they want one, there will be ways to get it, and swapping parts of whatever. It's really sad on a personal level, because Xbox 360 was the console I put the most time in, and had the most fun with. It also had a lot of my favorite games that I have ever played, and ever experienced. It's where I bonded with all my friends. It'll always have a special place in my heart.

It was bound to happen, I think there's enough in stock to last a while and then there's always craigslist. My 360 recently stopped reading discs so I might pick up a spare if I find it on the cheap, before backwards compatibility picks up (or stalls out). It had a great run, what I'm more interested in is when they shut down the servers, Halo Reach's in particular.

It really sucks how you have to move to the Xbox one, and I've seen alot of negative reviews on it. Hopefully people will still play it so I can continue playing my old multiplayer games like Bad Company 2 or Titanfall.
