Things you'd change in games as a developer

For example, I'd love it if the current gen shooters would be more colorful. I feel that right now developers are using too many dark colors and neglect the brighter ones. Sure, war and fighting is dark, but it all takes place in a colorful world.

Next, I have a beef with RPGs. Developers seem to have forgotten stats and roleplaying. The choices we get to make are either good or bad (see the Mass Effect series), with nothing in between. And to make them more accessible they hide the stats and you cannot customize them in detail.

So these are two things I'd change, more color in my shooters, more stats in my RPGs.
What about you?

I enjoyed the seemingly limitless customization options in Dragon Age Origins and they took much of that away in DA2. That said, I really enjoy when developers give gamers the tool to make their own maps, levels, or stories. I really think it helps create this fan service long after the game has "died."

I wouldn't mind seeing the jRPG many of us grew up on come back for a return.

I would love to see more simcity-esque games that aren't goat simulator or alike.

If I was a developer I would go back to the 40 hour game play. Besides being a rpg I really think the reason why Bethesda games sell so well. Is because if you buy one you know your going to get at least 40 hours of game play out of it.

Not all people like super long games.. Unless you have unlimited free time it is impossible to keep up with everything if every game is really long..

I don't know what I'd change. I do agree we need more colors in shooters. Let's go with the that for now

I agree completely with making things more colorful, and it's the same complaint I have with modern movies as well. Everything is being turned black and gray and it honestly looks very boring to me so I'd most likely just change that. I'd try not to go overboard with it, though, since I don't want the games to appear comical at the same time, but they do need a touch of bright color.

Depends on the game genre is. The most I might do is:
-Add music to online multiplayer in modern FPS games
-Exclude regenerating health from everything except Zombies mode in Call of Duty
-Cheats that have to be unlocked through beating a level in a certain amount of time
-Force players to pick from a range of game characters to play as in a FPS game
-No linearity in most games

If I was a developer I would go back and check the game like 10 different times and pay people to check my game before I sent it out into public to sell it. The reason would be because I see a lot of games out there on the market that have spelling mistakes in the game, but no one really ever notices because they are way to busy playing the game and skipping through the text.
