Think coins will return in Mario Kart 8?

They've only been in Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart Super Circuit and Mario Kart 7 so far (outside of missions/tournaments), so do you think they'll be in Mario Kart 8/Wii U?

I'm going to say no to be honest, they seem to not turn up in the home console versions for whatever reason.

But what do you think?
 
Coins in GP can stay, but they need to get rid of them in Time trails. They influence your records a lot.
 
It depends on whether or not Nintendo wish to keep them. I agree with Gelivable64, coins in a normal race can stay, but in Time Trials they really need to go.

In saying that, I'm all for gathering a certain amount of Coins to get a random Kart part, I thought it was a welcome way rather then 'do this' or 'do that'.
 
If they return, i hope it will make more sense, like using them for a MK shop to buy characters and kart/bike pieces and maybe character outfits
 
If they return, they should make the system a bit better. They ruined time trials, as you had to focus on getting coins the 1st lap instead of taking shortest route. Also the maximum of 10 was a bit annoying. Sure, it's a great top speed, but you have to play like 1000 races, getting 10 coins to get one of the golden parts. So when you reach 10 coins, you're speed is at top, but you still continue collecting them.
