Do you think there's a chance someone might come up with one? I mean, we did have such awful ripoffs of Pictochat as Ping Pals in the days of the DS, so why not have one now?

Because when I think about it, this is pretty much the best possible time for a third party SwapNote alternative. Just have some (fairly small) company release a similar messenger app with the online communication stuff and what not kept in, and release it for a few dollars/pounds on the eShop.

People who want 'family friendly' can stick to their nearly useless default one, the rest of us can buy a third party one with all the features of before and no censoring whatsoever.

Good idea? And if a company did make one, would Nintendo allow it on the eShop?

Good lord, I hope so. I'm seriously ticked that I can't send doodles and attachments of full blown art pieces anymore! But I wonder if after their whole Swapnote debacle, Nintendo won't approve of putting an eshop version up. I mean, don't they have to approve the game to go on the shop? They probably don't want to look like fools, and I kind of have a hard time believing that no one's tried to make some proper chat/picture sharing programs since Nintendo can't manage to make particularly good ones...

I hope! I totally missed out on the swapnote thing, they shut it down a little while before I bought mine, I was super disappointed.

I miss my Ping Pals but it should have had wi-fi. I'd like just a regular PictoChat with wi-fi and photo / voice share added. you know, like what the 3DS should have had default anyway?

Nintendo won't approve this. Look at the Miiverse we're getting. They're on full overblown panic, now they're afraid all 3DS owners who aren't kids, are paedophiles, waiting for them to drop their guard.

Let's just face it, you want a messaging system, you go to Sony, Microsoft or a computer, not Nintendo.
