This forum option irks me greatly

in which forums automatically set your settings to watch any thread you post in. If I want to watch something, I will. Otherwise, don't spam me.

There might be a setting which you can turn off auto notification. I agree it is mildly annoying when forums send me notifications by PM or E-mail that a new reply have been posted on a topic, but I gotten used to it, so I stop caring I just delete the notifications.

I hate it when this happens. I do a 5/5 exchange with someone then I'm spammed with topic reply emails for the rest of my life.

you can turn them off, if you couldn't I would see to it that the site got shut down, specially if active.
