Yeah, the housing market is terrible right now. It's a sellers market right now, not a buyers market.

Hopefully, the government can eventually help lower the price of housing for average people.

The housing market doesn't have real prices right now. They have imaginary prices or sometimes Black Rock (Blackstone) didn't buy the house. Then you have to be opportunistic to get it at best. Rent is awful too, and worse than that is people saying renting is affordable, which you never know if you get into a bad accident and/or have to pay medical bills, and it becomes unaffordable which correlates to the lies of Black Rock.

Ugh, don't even get me started with rent prices.... there is a reason I never moved out of my home.
We had tried for years to move closer to my parents but the housing near them was 3x the price it is here. Plus acreage, which we want, is few & far between by them. Then the economy took a nose dive. We had looked at our house on Zillow & was shocked its "zestimate" is nearly double what we paid for. Problem is, everything else is raised as well.

Inflation plays its part in the housing market. Sellers fix any price they feel like and dislike being challenge about it. It's either take it or leave it sales and marketing strategy they are using now.

Also a lot of people buying and renting houses, which really kind of sucks.

People need a home to live in and I don't see any way they can fight the hiked prices. Those who are in it for business are the one's making life difficult for others.
