Hello GF gamers, this is just a topic to gather some input on one day in the future making a sister site for GF. Keep in mind should the outcome look positive in doing, it won't happen till at least late 2014 or 2015.

Anyways, sometime in the future I would like to create a sister site for Gamingforce which this site will share the same database as GF to ensure that members can go to the sister site easily much like our current set up with the GF website.

The sister site would be about anime and have a name similar to GF. When this happens I will require to someone to run it full time with me as a shadow admin. So I would set up everything and keep a eye on things but I would want to run it as the main admin as I keep things going on GF.

Again, this is just brain storming and gathering thoughts.

Sounds great to me. :D

HUGE anime fan right here and think a forum dedicated to it would be a great idea.

Also think it would need a manga section as well.

The anime forum will not help this forum out and vise versa. The only things it'll possibly do:
1. Get all of the people into anime the heck outta here (no more anime talk around here!)
2. Deteriorate the admin/staff focus on gaming and this forum to transfer to something that interests them like anime and that other forum (All of a sudden DS just isn't into gaming that much and spends all of his time over there!)
3. Absolutely nothing (didn't even notice anything happened)

Now if you start sistering and putting them together you might as well lay both forums on a railroad track because unrelated forums to not help each other with activity. An anime forum has absolutely no use for someone like me who doesn't like anime just as much as some anime junky jabbering around here without a care in the world for gaming.

Now on a side note it's better to make a decision to be on the decision to do it then go for it than to put it on the backburner as well. How big is your backburner list right now? (LOL)

1.  You are correct, the anime board and it's interested members would all direct over to the anime board.

2. hrmmm, yes and no. I would give both boards equal time with GF getting the most. It's why I said someone else would be head admin and I would shadow.

3. overall, it would increase the stats of both boards since they share the same stats and with a redirect to GF, some anime people would come over to check out the gaming side and may like it. It's a second way to make people view GF.

Only because you don't like anime doesn't mean you have to go over there. It's there as a second place for people with many interests to further give activity to this community I am building. For if the anime site works out, I would branch out from there to like a tech board or whatever and just keep branching making a rather successful hub community. But this is a decade plan  which is far far away from seeing light if ever.

No matter how big my back burner list is, it's all greyed out right now. I can't do anything till I first, get a stable staff on here and second get 50+ active members. Till that is achieved it's all advertising and drumming up interest on this forum and website.

I actually think that's a great idea.
The only issue is that at this point in time, it can be hard to get members for a topic as broad as "Anime", nearly as hard as getting members for a theme like "Gaming".

If you do plan to go through with this, I would suggest choosing an anime that is currently on-going, is pretty popular, and will have over 100 episodes, as the main theme of the website/forum. Of course there will be boards where members can discuss other anime, or even go entirely off topic.

But then again, that's all just my opinion.

I definitely think this will be a lomg term project that might not even finish, but I do think just having it on anime may deteriorate from the site like aidsor said and it might be too specific.

Id like to hear more about it brfore deciding fo be on boardbor not though.

not much more to say, I make another site called Animeforce or something like that, I link the database to this forum so anyone can just sign in as if singing into GF and they post and the site acts like a second magnet to make people join the Force Community as I would call it.

When or if this ever comes to light, no one from GF would be forced to go to the other sites.

I know shortie of Chat addcits is already doing this as he's branched his sites off to gaming addicts and tv addicts. Lack of members though has left his branching forums lifeless.

I think ultimately the core problems with this idea are:

1- Getting staff to run it.

I mean how difficult of a time do you have finding (and keeping) staff now on a site you're regularly on/using?
So how would you get decent staff for a site that you might not be checking on every day?

2- Convincing members to use one or the other.

I mean how many people who join gamingforce (or animeforce) would actually use the other? How many would even know the database was linked?
And how would you get people to maybe post on the respective other forum? I mean people who join Gamingforce may not be interested in anime at all. (And vice versa.) So it might be two different crowds with little overlap.
So it very well could end up that Gamingforce gets a bunch of members, while Animeforce wastes away.

3- Bloat.
Not to be too harsh, but IPB 3.x is not known to be a resource friendly software. After a while it's database just gets bloated and starts consuming more resources to handle it, which will drive your costs up. So if you use a second IPB forum off the same database, that could really accelerate this problem (for both sites).

4- Time.
I know you want another person to be the main admin while you are the shadow admin (running things from the technical aspect) but that probably won't happen for a very long time and so you'd likely have to run everything yourself. Which would mean you'd have to devote a lot of time to running another forum. And that would very likely cut into time to spend with Gamingforce...

So I don't really think you should do it... Not unless you can solve those problems.

Are you sure you can link the database?
I've never linked a database to another forum before or even seen that before. Only site to forum.
It's already been done with our website (Which is wordpress) and IPB has a feature allowing other IPB boards to do the same with each other. I believe sport websites do this with all their different websites.

I've pretty much covered most of this in my earlier posts. At this time I'm just letting users know that GF does plan for the future and are thinking of ways of expanding to keep interest of activity going for this community.

It will never happen though till I first stabilize this forum and get it active.
