From that those that own (aka not me), can you say what you think of the game?

Does the changed gameplay with the vehicles and mini games not being after every turn improve the game or make it worse?

Wait, is this out already? Oh gawd, I need to keep up with the times.

EDIT: Well, it's March 8 for Australia, so I'm going to try snag it up if I can find it for something cheap.

Well, TUK says he has it, so maybe he can answer.

This is just me talking from what I've seen, so it isn't a great answer, but it looks very similar to Wii Party's layout, in terms of interface (like the victory screen and menus) as well as the gameplay itself, which is based on a main game with mini-games to the side, rather than a main game with constant mini-games.

Wii Party was amusing and a lot more fun to play with family (whereas older Mario Parties were actually kinda boring with three or four players if you weren't ready for a long match), so I'm guessing this will be like Wii Party on steroids, which is good to me!

Well the game is faster which is a good thing, the mid boss and stage boss battles are diverse and never repetitive. They don't shove the mini games to you as much as the other editions did. The items you collect thru the game are (so far) only dices making the game easier to handle. No matter who is at first place, fates can change at ANY time during the game, giving new or casual players some hope to win.

On to the mini games, there are most of the times 3 sets of them to choose from when it's game time, the commander (driver) gets to pick the game. They don't tend to use a lot of different control schemes most of them are either vertical(wii style) or horizontal(NES style).

Colors..... colors everywhere..... this game is COLORFUL!!! looks pretty and did I mention colorful?

To bad Dry-Bones is not playable

I won't voice my opinion until I have said game in my hands, which will be in a few days time (comes out on Thursday = late night shopping = straight after work I'm grabbing it). But I'll be sure to find something to say about it.

Each of the 6 stages is basically a single path from start to finish. There's a "mini-boss" and a full boss in each stage.
Basically it's like this:
Start----------------------------------------Mini-boss----------------------------------------Boss

Unlike with the original games, where you had to go around a full 'board' not once, but up to 50 long a boring times. In the time it would take you to complete the Solo mode in Mario Party 9, you'd be VERY lucky to have even reached the end of the 2nd stage in Mario Party 2 for example.

The Australia copy of ONM gave the game an 86%, saying:

Makes the last one look like two guys sharing a can of coke.

With many lessons having been learned, this is a wonderfully refreshing revamp.

I did think of typing out the whole article but it's three pages in length, so no way in heck am I doing that. However I can say that several minigame shots look interesting - the Thwomp boss battle turns out to be more luck-based. There is also a game called "Pizza Me, Mario". Looks like players chuck pizza ingredients onto a pizza, but it looks like the pizza may rotate. Also instead of the most Stars being the winner, as everyone suspected, the player with the most Mini Stars will win the game this time around. And Minigames only take place when landing on a specific space, NOT after everyone has made their moves, and all boards are linear (see Goomba's Booty Boardwalk from Mario Party 8) and the game ends after players defeat the boss of each board.

Actually the Thwomp boss battle in more of skills than luck, if you are standing next to the Thwomp do try to make the roulette move cause the one that will get hit will surely try to move. If you are the one that is about to get hit then you MUST make it move or else you will lose points. If you are the one farther from danger there is no need to make it move, that way you are always safe and will screw the other two. Mini games are not always at the end of the rotation but if more than one rotation ends w/o mini games the hidden dice presents will force a mini game up yours.

@Steven actually this game only uses the Wiimote. Not even the nunchuck is needed this time around, and no mic so far.

@fillfall Sadly no online, just Party(multiplayer) - Minigames - Solo - Museum - and Extras.

Oh, that sucks. Well, I guess I won't get it then, as I have nobody to play it with..
