I'm fine with it personally. A Nintendo Direct worked well last year, and practically speaking, stuff like the Smash Bros tournament makes up for the lack of any on stage antics.
I don't care HOW Nintendo announces their stuff as long as they DO announce it. And they better announce some really cool stuff this year. They need it.
I miss the big presentation and the crowd reactions. Directs are fine and dandy but they are a little too sanitized for my taste. I'd prefer a live presentation with a live audience.

So long as they announce some stuff, I'll be happy, but I agree with the others that the big in crowd announcements pack a LOT more punch then an internet video. (Not that I wasn't flipping out during the entire Pokemon section at the end of the SSB4 Direct where they debuted Charizard and Greninja.)
