It's usually lumped in with GamerGate and the likes, but I'd say it raises a very different issue. Basically, it was a secret newsgroup where 'journalists' would apparently discuss their plans for the gaming media, or something. Here's a list of all the members:

So what do I think?
Well, on the bright side... no one I know or care about is on the list. So that's no one here, no one on Gamnesia or Zelda Informer or Zelda Dungeon, no one from GoNintendo and no other journalists I know. So at least I'm talking to honest people.
But it annoys me because these sites are meant to be competitors. To have them discuss things and go against the interests of their userbase is not the sign of a free and independent media.
Imagine if you caught Fox News and MSNBC discussing how to screw over the public. You'd be pretty hacked off.
It's also a clear sign of the 'cartel' the media claims isn't present but very clearly is...
