Three Gaming Discussion Boards?

To stimulate discussion on the GF boards, I'm thinking of adding three weekly or monthly subboards to the general gaming board. Which would be changed often.

I was thinking one would be gaming type which focuses on a single type of gaming like RPG, racing, ect. The other one would be about some game focusing on a popular title during the month or focusing on something from the past. The last one would be about a up coming game and what is chosen would depend on votes from a poll I would set up.

So what are your thoughts about this?

It could work as it would focus on one thing and would easily encourage discussion. If you decided on monthly, perhaps you could let the Member of the Month choose the next topic to be discussed? Could be a win/win with encouraging posting around the forum in order to not only win MOTM but get to choose a topical discussion for the month after too. Could be worth thinking about.

I think they are really great ideas. I have no idea on how on earth you keep track of that stuff.
Anyway I think weekly is not enough time to get attention.

The genre thing is probably my favorite idea.

The other one would be about some game focusing on a popular title during the month or focusing on something from the past.

This one will be tougher because there is only a lot to talk about to people interested. You will have to choose which one wisely and try to stimulate conversations of previous games to the sequel of conversation(if any).

The last one would be about a up coming game

 Great idea as well. I would choose to limit the choices to "High quality" big shot games only. Also try to pick games that are NOT system exclusive until it's something that everyone has been waiting for like nuts.

Still it is not winter yet so the place is not going to be busy.

If a board would show that it wouldn't be very active, say like for some reason Madden got put up and was dead I switch to something like Final fantasy. The idea of getting member of the month to pick one is a good idea.

You go with either free to play like LOL or maybe mmorpg's.
