There are already plenty of fun PlayStation Vita games available, but let's be honest; we're in a bit of a drought right now in terms of new content coming to Sony's handheld. Today, Sony revealed three new applications that may help freshen up your experience a bit, though from the look of things, there's nothing to get too excited about here.

The first is Paint Park, a simple art application. Sony explains a program which allows users to "doodle, sketch and scribble quickly and easily with the virtual markers and on-screen color palette." The Vita's cameras can be used to import imagery to paint over and around, and Paint Park also supports "online multiplayer" (ad-hoc) that allows you to share your work with friends. Paint Park will be available this week on PlayStation Network.

Next up is Treasure Park, an interesting-looking application "that allows you to create your own puzzles to challenge your friends with." The app will use your 3G connection to find puzzles to play, and you can also share your own via Near. Treasure Park is due out this summer.

Finally, Wake-Up Club is "an application [that] turns your PS Vita into an alarm clock that can sync up with other PS Vita users who set their alarm for the same time." It will also be available this summer.

The drawing App and the alarm clock App sounds similar to free Apps I can easily find on Google P/ay Android marketplace, or the Apple iOS App store for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. I think most smartphones and tablets also have Alarm clock and clock apps built-in, so I don't see much point on getting another app to use as an alarm clock.

The puzzle app sounds interesting, but not something I be interested in.

Wasn't it around this time last year when Nintendo was struggling with the 3DS and no games were available for it?
