Jim Carrey is getting serious about his new role. Seriously fat, that is.
The funnyman is packing on the pounds to play "Curly" in the upcoming big screen version of "The Three Stooges," according to gal pal Jenny McCarthy.
"He's gaining weight," McCarthy dishes on Tuesday's Ellen DeGeneres Show. "He's going to gain 50 pounds to play Curly." McCarthy says Carrey is "basically enjoying his desserts."
"He's just having so much fun with it," she adds.
"I have no idea what it's going to be like when he hits near 300 pounds. But, you know, he's in his comedy. He works hard at it."
But don't expect McCarthy to engage in any of the binge eating.
The former Playboy model revealed her newly toned body on the May 2009 cover of Shape magazine.
So does it get annoying to have Carrey walk around doing Curly impersonations?
McCarthy puts it this way: "You have to be very much in love with him [to tolerate it]."
Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro are reportedly joining Carrey to portray the slapstick trio. Penn will play Larry, while Del Toro takes on Moe.
The movie version of The Three Stooges is not a biopic, but a comedy based on the antics of the three characters.
Production is set to begin in early fall for a 2010 release date.

I look forwards to seeing this.
