If you haven't already. Because they've now announced that image hotlinking is going to be a paid feature costing around $399 a year:

The Latest News on GB stamps from Norvic Philatelics

With free accounts being removed in general. So any images hosted there and posted on forums will likely break very shortly (if they haven't already).

Because of this, my advice is to move your images to your own hosting as quickly as possible, and then update every image you've posted on a forum to reflect the change. If you're an admin, you may also want to search your forum database for 'Photobucket' and rehost every image yourself to avoid them breaking too.

Yeah, I know it sucks. But the guys who run Photobucket are apparently idiots without any business sense at all, and they've now likely broken hundreds of forums as a result. Thanks guys...

It is unfortunate that Photobucket choose to make hosting images so expensive, and can't find a different way to make money like selling web hosting, domain names, or paid services like photo printing, professional picture editing where there are a lot of less tech savvy users who need to print photos from a picture file or hire a professional photo and video editor to edit their media files.

I think this will cause a lot of forum topics by members to become useless if the topic mostly contained images hosted on Photobucket, and does not contain text, video, or other content which will turn most posts into a giant advertisement for Photobucket if the image becomes an Ad for upgrading to Photobucket to re-gain the ability to embed pictures on a 3rd-party website which are not owned by Photobucket.

At least, Photobucket is not deleting all free accounts, so users may still be able to view the picture by going to Photobucket.com by clicking on the image link on the embedded picture, or on a text link to the picture's website on Photobucket.

Maybe it just me but I don't see any reasons for needing to use photobucket or any other image hosting site for posting images for use on an online forum. Server hardware in general is so cheap now days that there is not much of a reason to do the hosting yourself.

I'm confused, what's server hardware? I used to use photobucket but moved to imgur. It's a nice site to keep all the pics and gifs I like to use online in one place.

ahhhhh shit! My very old files! *races off*

to put even more simply, he's talking about just buying your own hosting and host your files.

I understand what servers are, but it doesn't apply in this situation. There are plenty of free sites to use before I'd resource to buying my own server. You can still keep and upload images to PB for free.

I don't use Photobucket. lol I encourage my members to post their pictures directly instead of hot linking anyway.
