Respawn has revealed what's coming to Titanfall in the fourth free update for the first-person shooter, including a rotating featured game mode, titan burn cards and insignias, and matchmaking improvements.
With update four, Titanfall will introduce a featured game mode that's only available for a limited time, starting with Marked for Death and then moving on to Wingman Last Titan Standing. IGN got a chance to try out Marked for Death at E3 and was impressed by the new mode, which made Titanfall feel like "a whole new game."
In addition, Respawn is bringing a slew of additions to titans, including specific burn cards, insignias, and new voice overs. There will be fourteen titan burn cards, such as amped electric smoke and amped vortex shield, and a wide assortment of emblems, which are unlocked by accomplishing challenges. Finally, Titanfall will now boast three different voices for the titans, with Jeeves and Lisa joining the classic Betty announcer.
As for matchmaking, Respawn will rebalance teams before a level loads, which hopefully leads to more competitive matches. Respawn is also working on a laundry list of big fixes for the upcoming update, as well as rebalancing weapons and explosives, like reducing the damage satchel charges do against pilots.
There are also plenty of other updates coming along with the patch, such as a challenge tracker, new menu art, better auto-titan AI, burn card overflow protection, and the Xbox One-exclusive addition of achievements specific to the Expedition DLC. There isn't a release date for Titanfall update four, but Respawn says it's coming soon.
