Not happy with Avatar dominating the charts in both 2009 and 2010, James Cameron is making a play for the 2012 box office crown with the re-release of the phenomenally successful Titanic.

The writer-director has long discussed converting his watery opus into three dimensions, but the LA Times is now reporting that the film has a release date.

In an article about the star-studded 100th birthday bash for Gloria Stuart - who plays elderly Rose in the film - the paper let slip that Titanic 3D will hit in April 2012, the 100th anniversary of the ship's sinking.

So will you be celebrating the anniversary with some 3D Billy Zane action, or do you think Cameron should leave well enough alone?

ohhhhkay, talking about spitting on something good to get more money from.

Well they've made tons of Texas Chainsaw Massacres and Friday the 13ths. Why not.

Wait, he wasn't happy about Avatar? Why the hell not!? He made so much freaking money from that! And I didn't like Titanic, so I don't care.

Wow... I hate remakes alot, but remaking Titanic!?!?!? That is just sad . Just when I was liking james for making an original film..
lol.

If this movie is not as good as the real movie, then I wonder if fans of the original movie would still like Titanic...

Everything these days are being made for 3D.
