An Australian businessman and politician Clive Palmer announced construction of the Titanic 2, which will be a modern replica of the original that hit an ice burg and sank.

“Blue Star Line will create an authentic Titanic experience, providing passengers with a ship that has the same interiors and cabin layout as the original vessel, while integrating modern safety procedures, navigation methods and 21st century technology to produce the highest level of luxurious comfort,’’ said Palmer in an official statement.

It is set to sail sometime in 2022.
 
They say if you listen carefully you can hear James Cameron planning the sequel to Titanic.

Seriously though, why? It's insulting to the people who died on the Titanic.
 
I heard about this. Not only are they building Titanic II, it's suppose to take the same route as the first Titanic. Hopefully Titanic II doesn't end up like it's predecessor.
 
The Titanic II looks like a nice ship and more unique compared to most cruise ships which are mostly white.
 
There maybe a few cheaper tickets for cruise ship rooms which are not as big. But, I feel many rooms on the cruise ship will still be super expensive unless there is a discount as part of a promotion.
