The science fantasy story Tokyo ESP begins with Rinka, an extremely poor high school girl who lives with just her father in modern Tokyo. One day, she is going home from school when she chases a "flying penguin" to the top of New Tokyo Tower—only to have "fish swimming in the air" suddenly appear before her. One of the fish goes through Rinka and gives her extraordinary powers beyond those of normal humans, particularly the ability to slip through solid objects.

This is another pretty good anime for this season. The plot may seem familiar, and maybe even too generic.

That's actually how I felt about it until it started.

Turns out that Tokyo ESP takes place in the same universe as Ga-Rei Zero, and shares some of the characters.

Remember the special unit that got wiped out in the first episode of Ga-Rei? Well we get to see more of them in this anime.

Its just the first episode, and the main character wasn't part of Ga-Rei, but I'll consider this as a sort of prequel for now.

Even without its link to Ga-Rei, this anime is really good. The first episode had a lot of cool action scenes.
