Adult Swim, the cable and satellite network that is paired with Cartoon Network, revealed on Wednesday that it will bring back its Toonami programming block starting on Saturday, May 26. The network has not yet announced its lineup for the new block.

The company had asked its Twitter followers in April if they would want the block back. Cartoon Network temporarily brought back Toonami on April Fool's Day, with reruns of such anime as Dragon Ball Z, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, Tenchi Muyo!, Outlaw Star, Blue Submarine No. 6, Trigun, and more. The marathon had even included newly produced bumper videos of Toonami's mascot T.O.M.

Cartoon Network ended Toonami in 2008 after an 11-year run.

After nerdcore rapper Richie Branson posted his self-produced song "Bring Back Toonami" on May 8, it caught the attention of Adult Swim. Adult Swim asked Branson if it could use the song, and it began running this bumper this past week:

Hahahahaha! *does a happy dance.*

I'm happy that Toonami is back, but.. they better have a good lineup.

Trigun and DBZ won't satisfy me enough.

Maybe some different anime, for once?

To bad the lineup is the same as a regular Adult Swim anime block with the addition of 2 new anime.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy its back, but Its just not the same without the Toonami greats like Dragonball Z,Tenchi Muyo,Gundam Wing,or Yu Yu Hakusho.

I grew up watching Toonami and its a shell of its former self now.

But its understandable at this point since its been confirmed that they where given VERY little money with this one and couldn't even afford to bring back Sara.

Hopefully their funds go up and we can start to get a much better Toonami block with a bigger timeslot and more days.

We have been given a chance to do what we have been begging for. If we want the full toonami back then we must support it in every way.

Completely agree with you there.

And I have been doing my part whether it was retweeting #BringBackToonami or tunning in every Saturday.

But it really is going to be a up hill battle at this point.

The lineup isn't as stellar as most would have wanted and thus I fear some may stop tunning in every saturday to get what is essentially the same AS anime block with only 2 new anime thrown in.

I'm happpy we even got to get Tom and this block back.

Here's hoping that it gets better down the road. :celebration:
