The Transformers are heading for the world of massively multiplayer online games thanks to a recently announced title that's slated to hit the East next year.
Developer NetDragon – who are also responsible for the forthcoming online outings for both Dungeon Keeper and Ultima in Asia – is behind the game, though few other details have been released. No mention was made, however, of a Western release for Transformers Online, with only Asian, North African, Middle Eastern and Russian territories mentioned.
"Transformers is already a household name in China, and we are extremely honored to be able to join hands with Hasbro to bring the excitement and fanaticism of Transformers into the online gaming sector" said NetDragon's Liu Dejian.
Transformers videogames have often flirted with mediocrity, though the last outing – High Moon's War for Cybertron – was a pleasant exception. If you scream loud and hard enough you could well see Transformers Online hitting your own shores at some point in the future.

if done right, this could be the next WoW.
