Transformers fans out there: Revenge of the Fallen grossed an estimated $60.6 million yesterday, making it the best opening day ever for a Wednesday release in the U.S.

Variety reports that the previous record-holder was Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and its $44.2 million opening day. Additionally, the trade paper figures that Transformers 2 just might overtake Spider-Man 2's five-day record of $152.4 million from when it opened on the same Wednesday in 2004.

Of that $60.6 million, Michael Bay's opus pulled in $16 million in midnight shows, another Wednesday record and the third-best ever behind The Dark Knight's $18.5 million and Revenge of the Sith's $16.9 million.

The film is reportedly also doing giant-robot business internationally, outpacing the original Transformers in places like Australia and Korea.

QUOTE (froggyboy604 @ June 25, 2009 08:30 pm) I might, but I might wait for it to come out on DVD.
no, this is one of those movies that should be seen while it's on the big screens.

well I just saw it today, it was a great action movie with a simple story and plenty of robots getting torn into pieces.

only problem with the movie was that you really can't tell who is good and who is evil.

I saw it today too. Great movie. I give it an A-. Some parts were pointless and stupid. And the critics gave it horrible scores...

Yes. That looked epic, sorta. But I' just saying that the critics are retarded and gave the movie a horrible score.

I believe that if a critic says it's bad, thats means its good. I saw it on opening day and i thought it was awesome. I would easily watch it again in theaters.
