Trouble uploading a picture? Here's what you should do:
1) Upload your picture to your gallery.
2) After uploading it, open it, right click on the image and "copy image url"
3) Go back to your post, go in edit mode, click on the image button, paste the url.
4) Done!

You sure your using the image tags?Seems to work fine. )-)
If I'm right, then the problem is that the URL for the image doesn't actually have the file extension in it, so uh... my only suggestion is upload somewhere else, to some temporary file hosting service like imgur.
