Vampires are among us! After a Japanese company has created synthetic blood, vampires emerge from the shadows and now live in society. In the small town of Bon Temps, Louisiana, Sookie Stackhouse is a young waitress with telepathic powers. One evening, arrives Bill Compton, a vampire with whom she soon starts a relationship. But this couple, unorthodox already to say the least, will encounter other problems when serial killer targeting women fraternizing too closely with the vampires appears.

True Blood is definitely not blessed with the same dramatic subtlety Six Feet Under and American Beauty, but it remains that it is a highly entertaining TV series. Based on a series of books written by Charlaine Harris, the True Blood universe offers us a very different vampire atmosphere from series or movies such as Vampire Diaries and Twilight. While True Blood does have its share of romantic scenes and moments of horror, Alan Ball seems to have placed his bet on crude moments and the satirical universe. In addition, the books of Charlaine Harris offer room for an atmosphere of southern accents, which is fairly new and original in itself to the world of vampires, although this change is not all that important.

Harris, like many authors, tried to appropriate the vampires by creating her own rules. Some of his are also very interesting. By cons however, it still uses the usual stereotypes, such as all vampires are evil, still use archaic political systems and so on. In addition, True Blood is primarily a romantic series between Sookie and Bill. Although there are a few interesting moments, the series sometimes looks like a series for teens. Although the series is blood red, there are still shades of pink water!

Despite the weaknesses of the script and some of the characters, one of the strengths of the series is its ability to provide us with a succession of intrigues that intersect with each other to give us tasty events. While we forcibly deal with the dirty character of Sookie's best friend, we then soon become attached to a poor pathetic vampire who has been kidnapped for his blood.

Realization, as it passes through the hands of several directors, is of course uneven. However, the scenes where Sookie's brother gets drugged with vampire blood are completely crazy. And to say the least, the special sex scene of Saint Martyrs of the Damned, is nothing compared to those of True Blood.

One of the pearls of the series may be insignificant, but it is still no less excellent, I called the generic. In my opinion, this is one of the most important elements of a series. This is what kicks off a new series and gives us the shiver of excitement when a new episode of our series begins.

Rating a series such as True Blood is not something easy, which I why I decided to take it season by season. The series brings nothing really new with its criminal investigations or with its world of vampires. However, although I can not put my finger on, True Blood remains a terrifically entertaining series that allows viewing with relish.
