As Google continues to expand its high-speed Fiber internet service, competitors are being forced to up their game, as Time Warner Cable has announced it is increasing its internet speeds free of charge for those in Charlotte, North Carolina.

In an effort to hold on to subscribers following the announcement that Google Fiber would be coming to Charlotte, TWC revealed that consumers in the region will soon be able to enjoy internet speeds that are up to six times faster without paying an extra cent.

"The Internet transformation will begin this summer and will include speed increases on TWC residential Internet plans at no additional cost, with customers experiencing increases up to six times faster, depending on their current level of Internet service," the company said.

Users who subscribe to the Standard 15Mbps package will see a speed boost up to 50Mpbs. Likewise, those on the Extreme or Ultimate plans will soon be able to enjoy speeds up to 200Mpbs and 300Mpbs, respectively.

Just last month, Google announced Salt Lake City, Utah would be the next United States city to receive Fiber. As Google's expansion continues, Time Warner Cable is going to have to get more competitive, which can only result in better value for consumers.

one reason google fiber needs to be everywhere, so ISP does what it is supposed to.

I feel there isn't much of a reason for subscribing to a non-Google Fiber ISP once Google Fiber is available somewhere since most likely you still get slower speeds than Google Fiber on other ISPs, and still pay more for slower speeds than Google Fiber.

The only reason I see for not subscribing to Google Fiber is that you don't like Google, or Google doesn't want your business because you use the internet to post spam on YouTube, Blogger, Google, post pirated movies on YouTube, or click on your own Google Ads on your websites and YouTube videos which is against Adsense terms of service.

Another reason would be being loyal to your current ISP because you have used it for years and they consider you a loyal customer and treat you with respect, unlike Google, who bans people like there's no tomorrow, and doesn't even have a customer support line for AdSense and YouTube.

Sadly, a lot of people are not loyal to their ISP companies because they keep raising prices, and provide slow service. Many people in Canada, and America complain about the high price of Internet, and TV because they only get 5-10MBps speeds, but pay $50 or more a month for internet.

Getting banned from YouTube, and Adsense does stink, but some of the people who got banned may have intentionally, or accidentally got banned by not fully reading and understanding the terms of service, and obeying all the rules on YouTube, or Adsense.

I think popular websites which use Adsense like eHow, WikiHow, etc has better customer support, and more popular YouTube partners like RayWilliamJohnson, Nigahiga, Smosh, etc can contact YouTube quickly.

Which in my opinion is a terrible thing. Back in the day, YouTube used to be about the community, about the small YouTubers who strove to make videos that may one day be chosen to appear on the YouTube homepage. Now it's all about the big dogs, the money makers, the ones in the top 100. Ugh... I hate what Google did with YouTube so much...

I agree, there was a chance to be on the front page of YouTube, and now it seems to be about the top YouTube money makers, and Video Networks like Machinama, and Maker Studios.

At least, there is now Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, and Tumblr which are social networks which lets you promote your YouTube videos by linking to them, so not being on the frontpage of YouTube does not mean you won't get any views as long as you take the time to promote your videos on other social networks, forums, blogs, and other types of websites.
