sourceAs Google continues to expand its high-speed Fiber internet service, competitors are being forced to up their game, as Time Warner Cable has announced it is increasing its internet speeds free of charge for those in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In an effort to hold on to subscribers following the announcement that Google Fiber would be coming to Charlotte, TWC revealed that consumers in the region will soon be able to enjoy internet speeds that are up to six times faster without paying an extra cent.
"The Internet transformation will begin this summer and will include speed increases on TWC residential Internet plans at no additional cost, with customers experiencing increases up to six times faster, depending on their current level of Internet service," the company said.
Users who subscribe to the Standard 15Mbps package will see a speed boost up to 50Mpbs. Likewise, those on the Extreme or Ultimate plans will soon be able to enjoy speeds up to 200Mpbs and 300Mpbs, respectively.
Just last month, Google announced Salt Lake City, Utah would be the next United States city to receive Fiber. As Google's expansion continues, Time Warner Cable is going to have to get more competitive, which can only result in better value for consumers.
