Popular Twitch streamer Emily Schunk, known as Emiru, was assaulted by a random fan during a meet-and-greet at TwitchCon 2025, leading to calls for Twitch to improve its security.
TwitchCon 2025 only just started yesterday, but it seems that it's already run into a big safety issue. Over on Twitter, user BaconCrumbz shared a video that shows popular streamer Emiru in line for a meet-and-greet with fans. One unidentified fan approaches Emiru in the video before grabbing her forcefully and even shoving her, leading to him getting kicked out by security.
Shortly after the incident,
Twitch sent out a statement (thanks Mashable) that claims "the safety and security of all those attending TwitchCon is our highest priority". The individual who assaulted Emiru was immediately removed from the premises and has since been "banned indefinitely" from Twitch events and the platform itself.
