Does anyone use Twitch for either streaming or watching others stream? I at the moment only use Twitch to watch others stream however I now have the set up to be able to stream if I wished to it's just a case of having the time to be able to do so.

Have you ever attempted to stream to raise cash or make donations?

I watch people on Twitch occasionally, no where near as much as I use YouTube though. I watch people only on Twitch. If I had a PS4 I may stream, don't know.

It stinks that Justin.tv got shutdown because Justin.TV workers are now working on Twitch full time. I feel that Justin.tv is a good site because Justin.tv is like the live version of YouTube where people video stream themselves while chatting on a chatroom kind of like Ustream, and blogtv.

I'm not really a fan of Twitch because I rather just watch YouTube gameplay videos, and video game trailers of a game I am interested in, and I can download YouTube videos to watch latter with websites like Keepvid.com.

Plus, YouTube videos are in HD, and there are usually no lag problems which can happen when streamers have slower internet connections.

I have watched one gamer stream on Twitch a few months ago, but I generally do not use it. I hardly watch gamers on YouTube, much less on other websites.

What recent events? I don't know what you mean... :|
Twitch put a new program in place that mutes any video that uses copyrighted music which muted tons and tons of videos including twitch's own official videos.

Which is extremely illogical since twitch allow users to requests songs to play on the stream.

Oh that is pretty annoying to be honest. Saying that though a lot of the time anything like this is not always the decision of the owners or the said website but usually because they have been made to do so by law because of copyright laws. This kind of renders a lot of videos useless now on the website though I guess as I know a lot of gamers who stream and do like happy hours where their followers or subscribers can request songs and such meaning a lot of editing. Such a shame.

The law is the obvious backing of this, but it sounded like the owners finally went ahead and did it with the pending merger with google/youtube.

Yes I did read earlier that Google had bought Twitch so after reading that it all kind of made sense as to why they are now doing this to videos on Twitch. Really hoping they do not make any major changes to Twitch though as I really do like it the way it is but knowing Google they will do whatever it takes to help it benefit them.

once google is sitting at the top seat you will need G+ for twitch, it's going to happen.

That is a guarantee and since many people don't always want to be part of these kind of websites it means many are going to end up looking for alternatives that do not need it leaving a website which has a great community so far with less of a great atmosphere. It's really annoying that everytime something is created that becomes a huge success it's always one of the top companies that comes in to buy it and change it to suit them. Would like to say I am looking forward to seeing the changes but knowing who will be making the changes I don't see them being anything exciting.

Twitch got bought by Amazon according to

"Being part of Amazon will let us do even more for our community. We will be able to create tools and services faster than we could have independently." - Twitch CEO Emmett Shear

This is good news for Amazon Fire TV game console, Fire Smartphone and Kindle Fire tablets since now they should be better supported by Twitch since Twitch is now owned by Amazon.

I wonder would Twitch require an Amazon Prime membership to unlock all its features.
