Twitter is building a new product that will allow users to share tweets that are longer than the company’s 140-character limit, according to multiple people familiar with the company’s plans.
I think this is a good idea to raise the limit of 140 characters to a higher number of characters like 280 characters. But ,make sure the limit is not too many characters long where people post many sentences, paragraphs, rants, and short stories to Twitter.
I think most likely it will be a premium account where you have to pay to tweet more than 140 characters, or you have to pay a few extra dollars to go over the 140 character limit.
I also won't pay to increase my character limit. I think, mostly, celebrities and wannabe celebrities will pay to increase the text limit on Twitter, so their followers can read more about them instead of the standard 140 characters per tweet.
I bet, Twitter may also come up with a premium account where Celebrities, and News websites tweet very long posts, but their fans have to pay a few dollars to read the entire tweet sort of like some eBook and news sites where you need to pay for a paid account to read the entire article.
