Hello everyone! For those people that are not planning to buy games from this year's Summer Sale and for people that want to make money to buy games from Steam, here are some tips on how to do it! Be aware that this money will only be available on your Steam Wallet.

I know it is not much money, but it can help during this awesome Summer Sale!

Trading Cards
This is one of the most common ways to get money on Steam. You can get Trading Cards during this Summer Sale for voting three times on the Community's Choice. These trading cards can be sold on the Steam Market for ~$0.35, so if you have trading cards and are not interested in them, sell them!

TF2 Hats
Do you have Team Fortress 2 hats? If you do, don't sell them during this Summer Sale! Instead, you should go to your inventory in TF2 and go to the Crafting Menu, select the Special Items option and then choose Fabricate Bread Box. You need three hats or headgear to craft a Bread Box, this box contains unique and sometimes strange items. You can only craft this box before July 9th, 2014 so make as many as possible if you are willing to sacrifice hats!

Right now the Bread Box is selling for ~$1.40, but wait! There can be a way to increase this price, but it can be risky. You can open your Bread Box to receive the item that it contains, there is a chance that you get a strange item and be able to sell it for about $4.50. Only do this at your own risk, if you don't get a strange item you won't be able to sell it. You decide if you want to sell the Bread Box or if you want to open it and have a chance to sell the item it contained.

Card money easily adds up. I've bought a fair amount of on sale games soley with card money.
I didn't know about the Bread Box thing, so I think I'll try that out as I don't really care that much about my TF2 hats.

I've heard that card money can be pretty good, even all year round. However for some reason Steam never recognises that I've got steam guard on or anything, so it never lets me sell my cards. It's such a pain.

Well, that's weird. Have you tried contacting support? I bet you have collected a lot of trading cards, it would benefit you greatly if you were able to sell them during this Summer Sale, specially when this is the time that people are buying more trading cards than they normally would buy.

I think I should point out that you must be Steam Level 8 or above to be able to obtain Steam Summer Adventure  trading cards so if you're anything below 8 you're going to have to find another way unfortunately .

How are these cards obtained other than for voting? I've heard of them but never seen or used them so I know nothing about them.

Ya i have the same problem. My steam account is only level 3 which is annoying because I can't get the cards. I wish I could get to Level 8 easier but I don't have the cash right now to spend on getting games more buying more of those badges to get levels.

Looks like a pretty good method. I have a bunch of Steam trading cards from a buch of my games, like Left 4 Dead 2 and Team Fortress 2. But I am a little hesitant to sell them now because they may increase their price in the future.

The Bread Box method looks interesting, but unfortunately, I don't really have that many hats on TF2. Plus, most of my hats are untradeable anyways.

I made that mistake last year, I saved my Summer cards hoping they would gain some value but the only thing that happened was a drop in interest, I could either get 15 cents at the time or sell them after a few months for 5-7 cents....
Now I just sell all the cards I get after I craft my badge, they easily paid for a couple of games this Sale.

How about Dota 2 items? The arcanas and mythicals cost a hefty sum and I'm sure that with some perseverence one could purchase any game he wants by trading. I've tried to gain some currency this way but it's pretty hard and most of the traders are really experienced hagglers.
