Ubisoft or Bethesda?

Honestly, I am a fan of both and it is a little difficult to make the choice, but I like Bethesda games just a little more than Ubisoft ones.

I'd played Ubisoft's Anno and Assassin's Creed, and these were incredible, but Batman didn't really impress me, although I was hoping that it would. Ubisoft was also the creator of Downtown Run, which I had played for days, almost non-stop, and Prince of Persia, which also used to be my favourite. Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to try Far Cry yet, which makes the choice all the more difficult.

Although the list of Bethesda games seems to be a little shorter, they're still top quality. There's Fallout 3 and Doom, not to mention, The Elder Scrolls, which captured many hearts, including mine.

If you had to pick a favourite, which one would it be? Ubisoft or Bethesda? Shall we count votes?

Definitely Bethesda. The sheer scope of most of their games is breathtaking.

While Far Cry and Assassin's Creed are relatively open-world, they just can't compare to any Bethesda game. The freedom to do as you please has been present in the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series for years and they implement it excellently. That's what I value the most in a game, so maybe I'm a bit biased.

Plus, the Assassin's Creed franchise has become a joke, they release game after game just because they know they'll sell well. They do it on almost a yearly basis and aside from Black Flag which actually added something new, the changes are minor. Don't get me wrong, I definitely had fun playing the first Assassin's Creed but the rest of them didn't impress me at all.

Bethesda any day. You can tell they take a lot more pride in their games hence the fact that they are not yearly franchises and have relatively long development periods. The games as a result, come out a lot more polished and a lot more fun.

Ubisoft games like Might & Magic X were fun and brought back some nostalgia. It's too bad they pulled the game too soon, even though they said they would add more content, which they never did after the first DLC. Games like Farcry could have been great, if not for the fact they added head bobbing which impaired my ability to play the game longer than 15 minutes.

With that said, Bethesda all the way. After Interplay who made Fallout great, Bethesda came along and continued the greatness along with the Elder Scrolls series. The two greatest series of PC games added to a small handful of greats and both from the same developer. How awesome is that?

Oh and I forgot to mention that I absolutely HATE Ubisoft's UPlay service.

At this point I can't even take Ubisoft seriously. Between the annualising of buggy Assassin's Creed games, shitty Uplay and underwhelming games, there's basically nothing left the company does that interests me. Literally all I'm impressed with is the amount they can hype games, I'm surprised people still play their shit with all the bugs and general fuckups Ubisoft forces on them.

Bethesda on the other hand...if I had to say any company really cares about its fans, it's them. They take their time to make their games, they don't promise too much and they deliver on time. Anyone who says spending longer making a game is a waste of time needs to look at The Elder Scrolls or Fallout. A 5 year minimum on developing games hasn't failed them yet.
