Canonical’s been working on bringing similar features to Ubuntu for years. A few years ago the company tried to raise $32 million through crowdfunding to build an Ubuntu smartphone that could work as a desktop… but the company didn’t meet its goals.
Now Ubuntu founder Mark Shuttleworth says someone else is building one, and it’s set to launch in 2015.
Canonical’s Unity desktop environment for Ubuntu can already run across a range of devices with different screen sizes. That includes smartphones, tablets, notebooks, and TVs.
I bet, the Ubuntu Phone with Desktop user interface will be about 5-6 inches in size like other better smartphones like the iPhone 6, Galaxy S6, etc which have bigger screens. Fewer people are buying smaller sized screens on Smartphones thesedays.
I agree Smartphones these days should have bigger screens since a lot of apps, games, and mobile websites seem to be designed for bigger screens rather than 3-4 inch low resolution touch screens.
Sadly, there are fewer good flip phones which look nice.
