To uphold the law that minors can't be online without parent permission, Nintendo has made it so that all kids (who truthfully) enter their current age that comes under 18 must supply a credit card and be automatically charged 0.50 cents.

More details here

If I was a parent, I just tell my kids to enter a false age.

I don't get how charging people 50cents fixes their problem with underage people online..........but meh.

Probably a lot of people will not, but still with millions of consoles sold there still should be 50,000 or more .50cents paid. Its a good way to make extra money with no effort for a company.
