Versus games are not composed solely of Street Fighter and Tekken and Mortal Kombat. There are also others that try to break the norm and be unique. Take for instance Destrega. It was a game that was released back in the PS1 days. At first I didn't pay attention to it when came out. But boy, was I surprised to see it's review rating. It got high scores of 8 out of 10!

I immediately went to the store to buy. And you know what? I wasn't disappointed. The game was amazing. The arenas were very large and I could fight with my opponent no matter how far we were from each other thanks to projectile attacks. It was like Dragon Ball. Only better.

I remember playing a digimon game back on PS1 that was a pretty good verses game.

Bloody Roar for the PS2 was also pretty good. I wouldn't consider it equal to Tekken, but it had its own charm and I'd definitely still play a new version of it if ever they came out with a sequel today. I also really liked Dragon Ball Shin Budokai, and I felt it was really accurate in making you feel how the characters in the anime would conduct a battle.

Oh yeah! Bloody Roar was really awesome! I can't believe I completely forgot about that game. It's really cool. You could morph into a beast and dish out different unique special attacks. The action was a bit slow though and the combos didn't feel very satisfying. Still, a very very cool game for teenagers during the day.

Ah, as for Dragon Ball, my fingers ached playing that game. I had to button mash in order to win battles.

I like the Soul Calibur series. Especially number 2. It zooms in at every character's background and it had a lot of stages/chapters and thus a big main story. Even though it was a lot of frustration, I liked the special game modes, which I really miss in SC5.
