Decided to watch this and just finished it only to be given a middle finger of a cliff hanger. Damn, this is a true mech anime that stands apart from gundam! They held back nothing in this anime and I feel it's a fresh twist on space mech animes.

Many say code geass is the combination of death note and Gundam, but that is wrong for Valvrave is that end result of the two combinations. I highly recommend this anime and my only complaint is changing the ending theme so soon to something else.

I was actually surprised by how obviously they copied elements of the 2 animes, especially for Gundam.

Space Colony (Gundam)
Sudden attack on a peaceful country (Gundam)
Peaceful country was secretly developing overpowered weapons (Gundam)
Teen uses the weapon and fends of the attack (Gundam)
The colony gets attacked numerous times on the way to a safe place (Gundam)
Characters have special powers (Code Geass)
Mostly in a school (Code Geass)
The war has a mystic origin, something about immortality (Code Geass)
