Say goodbye to care-free browsing and Netflix streaming because Verizon is going the way of AT&T and will no longer be offering unlimited data plans starting as early as this summer, according to Reuters.
Instead of unlimited plans, data will be available via tiered pricing. Specific prices and data limits have not been announced, but if it resembles anything like AT&T's plans, it could set you back $15/month for 200MBs of data or $25/month for 2GBs.
Verizon's Chief Financial Officer explained that, in turn, the wireless provider will begin offering family data plans. Previously, family plans were only available for voice services; the change will allow a family to pay one price and share a single data cap.
While a good deal for families with multiple smartphones, we can personally do without tiered pricing for a single line.
