As well as urban legends about them in general?

For me, it was the usual stuff. Like Luigi in Super Mario 64, which I must have spent quite a bit of time trying to find. Or the Triforce in Ocarina of Time. God that was fun back then, I remember coming across stuff like this, with a whole laundry list of different ways to get it:

And then... yeah, Mew in Pokemon. God, must have been a million rumours on how to get Mew without a Gameshark or event (like the one with the truck/lorry near the SS Anne), and those were arguably more amusing to read about than anything legit about the game.

But what video game hoaxes and urban legends did you used to believe?

The only one I ever believed was Sonic and Tails in Melee. I spent for ever trying to kill 5 or 10 wireframes in Cruel Melee. When I finally did it, I was thoroughly disappointed.

I really hate it when people still insist that "Luigi is in Super Mario 64", despite it being literally proven to hell and back that there is literally no amount of data in all of the data found within the entire file system of the game, whatsoever.

Same with Waluigi and Super Mario 64 DS.

Do you know another bit of proof? NO ONE has unlocked them. If they were in the game, they would have been found. And no, it's not a case of "no one's found them yet", like I said, even the most extremely hidden secret in the game, would be in the data.

I remember that I use to believe in the Waluigi in Super Mario 64 DS rumor. I spent hours trying to find a way to unlock him, but eventually gave up since it was a hoax.

Well, the screenshots were fairly convincing. They had custom models and everything, so it could definitely fool the unwary.

I remember you also used to believe you really saw some Bowser or Bowser Jr or Baby Bowser (I forgot which one) in a field, while you were on a bus or something, and you apparently saw a Blue Baby Yoshi in your bedroom, and that you believed you could "walk on water"...... lulz

I still believe what I saw, and I wasn't on anything or having hallucinations. The walk on water thing, well, I guess I thought I could, but it was just an illusion.

I fell for the whole being able to go in the rocket in Ruby and Saphire. It was back before I had my own internet access so I could never verify it. I spent ages checking, and checking again, hoping to go to space. Makes me want to actually play my copy of Omega ruby.

I used to be very interested in the old hoax for getting behind Bill's house in gen 1 of the pokemon games. Also the rumor about moving the truck in Vermillion city docks. Good times.
