At Nintendo's E3 2012 press conference, Nintendo announced that the Wii U will be much more than just a video game device. Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime announced that the Nintendo Wii U will stream video from Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Hulu and Youtube. Details on specific territories have not yet been announced beyond the United States.
The Nintendo Wii already streams content from Netflix and Hulu, but this will be the first time content from Youtube and Amazon will be streaming to a Nintendo home console.
This announcement significantly expands the amount of video on demand content Nintendo has access to. Hulu streams content from Fox, NBC Universal, ABC, News Corp and plenty more media companies. Amazon and Netflix have a library of thousands of feature films. On YouTube, over one hour of user-generated content is uploaded every second.
