I think online gambling is not bad since it create jobs for webmasters, graphic designers, programmers, etc who work at the online casino, and some people who are good at poker, betting and casino gambling games can make a living playing online poker or winning the huge jackpot.

But, if you have poor self-control, or you are bad at gambling, online casinos can be a problem since you can gamble all your money away very quickly.

This is a tricky question... can have its bad side and its good side. Plus side: People can gamble virtually, with no cash involved. Risky sides: People can get addicted and if there is cash involved, people are gonna lose huge.

kind of bad since the casino can rig a online game better then a real life one.

Indeed, they can rig the game, but I thought poker is more about skills with playing cards, and you can still win if you play bad, or good cards very well if you are one of those professional poker players with skills.

Its best to keep your hands off such things if you know you can't curb yourself from gambling.

I agree. Personally, I don't like losing money and so, if I spend it then I better be getting something in return.

I prefer shopping, my husband prefers to gamble but doesnt go overboard.

I do pretty good at the casinos, specifically the penny slots alone and nothing else.. and as I am aware that the house always wins, I know to quit while I am still ahead.

So if I spent $20 on the penny slots for the day and ended up with $400, then I will take my $380 profit and go back to the hotel.

I hope he doesn't overkill it and go over the top with it when he gambles, because then he will lose big. Is he skilled at playing the black jack or something else?

well I know my parents drive a so-so car and we live in a decent apartment thanks to my dad's hobby of gambling.

honestly, there is nothing wrong going down to try and double some loose money but don't put your bulk money into gambling.

well put keith. But yeah, gambling isn't a decent hobby on my part. Because you can wholly get addicted to it. And then you're done for if you are.

Nope.. he is as sensible as I am about gambling. He'll spend $20 on the penny slots and $20 playing Spanish 21 where supposedly your odds are better compared to traditional 21 (Black Jack) but we also have our own set of strict rules to follow.

1. We don't gamble at the same time.

2. We don't drink when playing, even though drinks are free.

3. We get each other's change, cash out each other's winnings, subtract $5 from the winnings, give the $5 to the other person to continue playing, and hold on to the rest to prevent temptation.

4. We watch the machine should the other have to go to the restroom, walk around, etc.,

5. We watch the other's surroundings for any fishy behavior.

6. We stop after our initial $40 gambling money is spent and leave the casino. Even if we won $100, we don't spend it, and immediately cash out after any win in which, we make a profit.. Whether it is $2 or $20, we cash out, and don't play it down. You'd be amazed at how quickly the profits add up, and we don't tell the other person until after we've left the casino for the day.

7. We only put $5 bills in the machines that we are playing. No bigger, no smaller.

8. We never leave the hotel with more than $40 in gambling money each day we're there, and we never spend our winnings to gamble and leave our winnings in the hotel when we go outside the next day.

9. We always have means of getting home. Whether it is a round trip ticket, or gas money.

10. The only cash we have, is our daily gambling money, and winnings. Everything else resides on our ATM cards, and we don't use them in the casinos or at any ATM machine while we are down there.

I know these rules are strict, but they are effective in making sure that we don't go overboard or are taken advantage of and it ensures that we have money to enjoy the rest of our trip since we don't go there exclusively to gamble.. I have spent about $30 dollars on the penny slots during a 3 day trip to Atlantic City and came home with almost $600, and this is not counting the money designated for shopping, eating out or the remainder of the gambling money that was never spent.

Lol they're not written down or anything.. these are just things that we do..

Mine has become instinctual and for my husband it is a learned behavior. We have seen and heard the horror stories from those who lost all of their money on a "sure thing."

There have been quite a few people from all ages and stages of life that have come up to us asking for money to get food or get home.

I have had an elderly woman and a pregnant woman ask me for money for these things and if I hadn't seen them doing the same to other people and then putting it back into the machine I would have fallen for it.

But yeah they do offer free drinks, both alcoholic and virgin. I've seen their alcoholic drinks though, the booze to ice ratio is like 5:1 so it is pretty much mostly alcohol. They are also very generous and fast with these drinks not just for tips, but because they are trying to get you drunk. It takes them a lot longer if you order juice, soda or water.

We've also noticed other things as well, like the fact that there are no windows and no clocks in the gambling areas, so you aren't aware of how much time has passed and my husband told me that they also pump oxygen into the casinos to "relax" the gamblers.

They aren't shitting when they say casinos can intoxicate a person.
