You've no doubt read by now that PlayStation Vita simply isn't selling that well in Japan. After pushing nearly 325,000 units in its first two days on the market on December 17th and 18th, Vita has sold roughly half of that since. Just over 176,000 PlayStation Vitas have been sold overall from December 19th through January 15th in Japan, painting a troubling picture for Sony.
This comes on the heels of the latest sales reports, translated by Andriasang, that indicate Vita's precipitous fall in the week ranging from January 9th to January 15th. In that time, PlayStation Vita sold only 18,361 units, a fall of over 50% from the week before, when PlayStation Vita sold 42,915 units.
Indeed, PlayStation Vita was outsold by Nintendo 3DS from January 9th to January 15th by a ratio of over 5:1, and even PlayStation Portable, Vita's predecessor, managed to sell over 4,000 more units in the same time period.
The top twenty games sold at retail during that same time period shows no PlayStation Vita games, though, as always, it's worth noting that all Vita games are available digitally and aren't tracked by Media Create's methodology.
