Have you had the joyful experience of growing up in the 90s? Or even being a grown-up in the 90s?

Have you then also had the not entirely timeless experience of playing Wages of War: Business of Battle, made by Random Games, and published by New World Computing? If yes - what an awesome experience we share! If no - what were you even doing with your life back then?? Establishing a family??? Busy not even being born yet!?!?!?!? Pffff...

This game, although dated by today's standards, and not really aged all that well, was (and still is, in my opinion) a true gem of a game! I shudder at saying it's XCOM-like, or Jagged Alliance-like. It's in the same genre, but it certainly stands on it's own feet! I remember coming over to a friend's place one day, and he had somehow managed to acquire a pirated copy of this game. And we played it. So. Damn. Much. He gave me a copy of it, but over the years I lost it - but not my wish to play the game! So, when I found it in a working condition after some googling, as it is now abandonware, I just had to get into it again! Playing it on a modern computer has it's issues, but nothing game-breaking.

So, have you been able to experience this, like me, when it was fresh and new, before it's mechanics got dated?

If not, I have a few videos out of it on youtube, and I intend to play through the entire campaign and upload an episode of each of the 16 total missions it has to offer. I've been trying to find some videos over the years of it on youtube myself, but there has never really been any out there. There was for the longest time just a one minute clip of some gameplay, and a video of the intro of the game. There's been some video uploads from an American guy about a year ago, but... and I'm not trying to bash him or anything - the quality of those videos are not the best (probably mine aren't either). In videos of the game, he has the TV running in the background at all times, and even plays other games in the same videos!

No! I couldn't take it! I had to make some videos of a proper playthrough myself! And hopefully I have been able to do so in a way that respects the game. Youtube was lacking content on this game, and I will now provide it! Certainly someone can come along and do better - and I encourage anyone to do so!

Here is the first couple of videos I've got out - more will start appearing rapidly. Heck, by the time you read this, I might have already finished the playthrough!

Let me know; did I respectfully present the game? Do you have any stories from the game yourself that you'd like to share? I'd love to hear about them from someone that might share my fascination for this beauty of a game!

Well, that's all I've got for now. Have a good day, folks!

I think I was still into the power rangers or being shooed away by brothers from touch their gaming systems back then. Sorry I can't share this moment nostalgia with you!

I grew up in the 90s, loved it. However I didn't get a PC until like mid 2010s.

Imagine that in this day and age - some people would probably argue that would be child abuse, to not give your kid and ipad or such. :/ I'm glad I got to experience some years of my childhood without this type of technology.

My mother used to work for a bank, and in 94 or 95 they got some decent offer for a computer for all employees, and she took the offer. And with that, out the window went my chance at an active life in sports. xD

I don't remember this.

I was normally playing with the same things my brothers were playing with and I don't remember playing this.....

given the issues with sports, a good thing?

Well, I'm more of a brains over brawns kinda guy anyway. I'm good at sports such as golf and shooting guns. Running around kicking/throwing balls at things never really appealed to me.

Just to brag a little; I in fact have probably one of the craziest hole-in-ones ever made in the history of golf to my name. It happened when I was like 8 or 10 years old, unfortunately waaay before everyone was filming everything at all times with smartphones. Smartphones did not exist back then. I have witnesses, but no video of it, sadly. Either way! What happened was;

My grandfather had helped out with getting a golf course constructed out in the middle of nowhere farmlandtown population 300 in Norway. And he had his grandkids involved with it. I showed some promise at this sport, although I didn't really enjoy it at all. I found that the more pissed off I was when I played, the better I played. Following the book, supposed playstyles and rules? No thanks. I did things my own way. And well - on the opening tournament, in monsoon-like rain in september, I was the first guy up on hole one. Basically the opening stroke of the tournament, and the golf course. I did not want to be there. The weather was shit. It was dark as the middle of the night although it was high noon on a saturday. I wanted to be home and game. So I was pissed. And when I'm pissed, I don't overanalyse, I just go with my gut. So, I hit the ball, and I see that it flies straight at the hole, but I can see I'm like 5-10 feet too far.
- However! That's when, due to the rain, my ball hits the flag above the hole, and since it's soaking wet, adheres to it in some weird way, and gets wrapped into the flag. Then it unwrapped again, and dropped right into the hole. Bam! Hole-in-one! First stroke of the opening tournament! God I wish that was on film, it was crazy. I then promptly went ahead and cockily threw my golf-club as far as I could yelling "THAT'S HOW YOU PLAY GOLF!!! NOW FUCK THIS, I'M DONE!!!" ...gotta quit while you're ahead, you know xD - I did play another tournament after that, and I won that one, but never really decided to do anything more with golf after that. Which I now regret. It would have made bonding easier with my grandfather, as he loves the sport, but apart from playing with some friends here and there, it just wasn't really for me.

I don't know tho, for some reason my brain seems to subconsciously work well with ballistics/trajectories. I can shoot the beak of a flying bird several hundred meters away with a slow-flying airgun projectile. Well! Bragging over!

Oh, actually xD I did try fly fishing once in my life. I got a Norwegian record within my first hour, and then also decided not to do that anymore - again, gotta quit while you're ahead. :P

This might sound like lies, but I can assure you it's not. On that last part I actually have a diploma to show for it - and the entire fishing trip was caught on a gopro.
