Wait, Pokemon in Mario Tennis Open?

Thankfully this isn't true of the game, at least as it'll be released. But someone certainly had an interesting idea in regards to what non Mario characters they'd want to add:

Nintendo Power: If you could introduce another Nintendo character (not from the Mario universe) into Mario Tennis Open, who would it be? Why?

Takahashi: Characters from the Pokemon series, like Pikachu, might be a good fit. I think that might be a good way to get new players interested in the game.

Would you want Pokemon characters in Mario Tennis, presuming at some point Camelot were allowed to add them? Or would they seem horribly out of place?

Pikachu is from the Pokemon series

What series is R.O.B from? He's not from ANY series! He's a physical real life peripheral for the NES (like the controllers). HE's not actually a video game character from any series, but a general Nintendo character. He has no series, and therefore, he can be in anything whatsoever. Just like the Miis.

Just because R.O.B is in Mario Kart DS, it doesn't mean Link should be in Mario Kart.

Well then why Nintendo don't make Nintendo Tennis? They had this title a LONG time ago on the NES, why don't they use it and mix all universes. Heck imagine a tennis mini game in smash bros.

Honestly, I see what they mean in the interview and it would be an interesting fit. And as for Link, hell, in Link's Awakening you had all kinds of Mario enemies so why can't he be part of the Mario universe? The crossover already exists.

I know what you meant. When I said that R.O.B. was included in Mario Kart DS, I was meaning that they added him in even though it was a Mario game like you said, and he wasn't part of the Mario Universe. Yes, I know I sounded like I did in my previous post, but I didn't mean that way. And um.. yeah, I wouldn't want Link to be featured as playable in a Mario Kart game.
As for the Pikachu part, it was pretty much my response to the topic. *Ruffles hair*

Link is from a series (the Zelda series) so he only belongs in Zelda games.
R.O.B. isn't a character from any franchise, so he goes where ever he wants. Whether it's Zelda, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Pikmin...
