Walmart will begin selling pre-owned games on November 3 in 1,700 stores across the U.S., the retail giant announced today.

Consumers were able to trade-in used games at Walmart from March 26 in return for a credit voucher that could be used in any Walmart or Sam's Club both in store and online. The program does not currently offer the option of receiving cash for game trade-ins, nor accept video game hardware.

I wouldn't buy used games from walmart.

What's wrong with Walmart used games?

Their prices are pretty good for older games like Red Dead Redemption which cost $20 for the PS3 and 360 versions.

I might buy used games from Wal-Mart if they are a good deal, and they have a good return policy if I get a scratched, or cracked disc.

I don't trust that they would fully ensure they would be in good working condition.

I think this is true for most used games where you are not sure if they are in good working condition unless Walmart has a disc scratch remover machine, and use a console or machine to test used discs to see if the disc works.

I think most newer disc machines like game consoles, Cd players, and DVD/Blu-Ray players can still play lightly scratched disc as long as the scratches are not very deep.

I also read on a blog that newer disc are made from harder plastics which are harder to scratch.

I bought a few used Playstation 1 games from a game rental place which were lightly scratched, and they were still playable. I think as long as the top of the disc is not scratched, or damage, the disc is only lightly scratch or not scratch on the bottom, and the disc is not cracked, there is a good chance it is playable on a game console.

I've seen a couple gaming stores out here, including Gamestope test the games before they purchase them. That was a while ago though, and I'm not sure how much they are able to do it anymore especially with the older games. Wal-mart I guess would be ok. I'd doubt they would be very thorough with their game inspection, but they probably will be at least somewhat careful since they will be giving out credit for it.
