Watch Dogs Discussion

This is my most anticipated title. Ever since I stumbled on the trailer for Watch Dogs back in 2012 (has it been that long? Wow), I've been captivated with the title. As a gamer that's becoming less and less interested in the same old titles (Call of Duty, I'm looking at you), I'm hoping this will be a refreshing change of pace.

If you haven't seen their recent video from E3, here it is. It shows the game in a bit of a different light compared to the video from 2012.

My hope is that this will be an expansive world similar to GTA but with a larger emphasis on the "choose your own adventure" which appears to be present in how you can hack different items around the city. I'm worried things might be a bit too scripted, but so far it looks like this title could be something truly special.

I'm keeping my eye on this, it seems like infamous but less power freaks running around.

Interesting name for a video game, do you know the reason behind it? The trailer looks awesome, do you know if this game will be in multiplayer mode? I'm more of a competitive player but a good single player story is also welcomed! Amazing graphics, the gameplay kind of reminds me as though there was a mixture of max payne and splinter cell in the game, yet there seems to be an unique element in the game itself.

I haven't done any research behind it, but I assume because it plays off the whole hacking/privacy/information culture we currently live in.

As far as multiplayer goes it sounds like there is one but it's very different than a traditional multiplayer experience. This article here talks about it in further detail, but it sounds like your player can "hack" into your friend's game and cause mayhem or help them out in their own world. They can pop in and out of your world if you opt in to the feature. It sounds like nothing they can do will ruin your experience, but it will add another dimension to the game.

I fell in love with this game ever since I had seen the trailer. I love the idea how it is so relaistic and the game plays off the idea that technology is becomming soo advanced and starting to become second nature in life. The gameplay looks like intense tactic driven gameplay, yet suspenseful and full of action. Hopefully the trailer is not just all smoke and mirrors. If the game becomes a big let down then I would be very displeased as it was one of my most anticipated games of the year.

I hadn't heard of this title until E3, and I have to say I was blown away. This and a new rendition of the Oddworld series are the two things I am most looking forward to. I just hope the actual game doesn't disappoint after building up such great expectations :)

I am really impressed by the concept and the general idea of the game and I look forward to it a lot! What's the release date? Any?

I think I saw the release date is supposed to be on November 19th in America and November 22nd in Europe. It's also supposed to be available for the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and the Wii U. There are also apparently special editions of the game but those have only been confirmed for Europe. No information on whether or not there will be any special editions for America just yet, but it's looking pretty doubtful.

Watch_Dogs looks incredible! The idea of manipulating the world because it's so interconnected with technology is one that's particularly relevant lately with all of the NSA garbage leaking out in the US.

When the game was revealed, it looked okay, but then there was the scene where he hacked a traffic blockade and raised it to stop an escaping car. Then he hacked a draw bridge so that he could jump it and others could not. I realized just how large the scope of this game could go, and it instantly became a must buy.

I really like the idea behind this game. I'm a little worried that it won't live up the hype though. It'd be really disappointing if the amount that you can interact with the world is overblown in the trailers and that in the game itself, you can only do things relevant to the storyline/only do one option most of the time.

Saw the trailer last year, fell in love with it. Saw more this year, I'm completely sold. GTA is one of my all time favourites and this looks awfully similar in style so I'll be buying this for definite, it really has that 'alive' city feeling to it. Manipulating the story is an incredible bonus, always missed that when I played GTA.

One has to wonder if this is going to flop though, I hope it doesn't and it looks like it won't but how many truly incredible games have we seen that ended up not living up to the hype and goals?

Before seeing the trailers I wasn't familiar with this title.  But I have to say I was blown away! the trailer really makes the game look appealing and I can't wait until more content comes out on this game.

I really hope the game to be something like Sleeping Dogs, but exchanging the Orient feeling for a more high tech one. I don't want it to be a Grand Theft Auto (because that we are getting soon), but i want it to be a unique game with unique mechanics.

I love the concept and execution of this game! This city isn't static mesh anymore because now, you can interact and control the city. I loved the GTA series and it has always captivated me with it's open world system. Watch Dogs will be an awesome game for me because I love the open world and the amount of control you have over the environment. I am really looking forward to this game and I can't wait to play it!

This is something I'm keeping an eye on, but I'm not in love with it. I mean - I've played various hacking sims and I don't really know. It might be great, but something tells me it has an equal chance of being done in by the details.

That's true. If the hacking ability is too linear or too story based it could be extremely frustrating by being limiting. If the game is designed more like a Deus Ex or Dishonored, where there are multiple ways to approach nearly every situation, and many of them based on this amazing looking hacking and interaction system.

Even though all of the item manipulating stuff seems interesting, I hope they go full force into the idea of gaining information about everyone around you. In the gameplay trailer, they showed Aiden needing to smash a guy's phone because he was dialing 911 about him. That could lead to a lot of awesome stealth gameplay of another kind.
